News: One Pearl Bank Design Unveiled

May 15, 2019

The new design pays homage to the iconic apartment design and more.

CapitaLand has unveiled the design for One Pearl Bank, the development replacing the horseshoe-shaped One Pearl Bank Apartments acquired by the developer for $728 million in February last year.

Designed by multi-award-winning Serie+Multiply, the new development comprises two curved 39-storey towers that are connected at the roof by sky bridges. It is slated for completion in 2023.

One Pearl Bank features the original’s curved facade design. The new design features 774 apartments ranging from 430 sq ft to 2,800 sq ft.

At 178 metres, One Pearl Bank is set to be the tallest residential development within the Outram-Chinatown district, offering views that extend from the Central Business District to Sentosa.

CapitaLand noted that the development’s slender, curved facades create an airy and light effect, providing residents and onlookers ample space “to look out and through the towers to admire the stunning views atop the hill”.

Featuring a total of 774 apartments, One Pearl Bank will offer a vast array of unit types from studio to penthouses, with sizes ranging from 430 sq ft to 2,800 sq ft.

Each tower will feature an allotment garden for every four storeys, with each garden having 11 plots where residents can grow herbs, fruits and vegetables. Overall, the development will boast 18 sky allotment gardens and almost 200 plots.

There are also sky allotment gardens to grow food crops, the first in the world for a residential property.

Aside from supporting urban farming, the two mid-tower sky terraces and two roof gardens will also offer various amenities, such as a walking track, indoor and outdoor gymnasium, lounge and an alfresco dining area.

Moreover, over 500 trees and 135,000 shrubs, plants and flowers are set to be planted throughout the development to occupy more than 60,000 sq ft of space or 75 percent of the total site area.

“Given its unparalleled location, we wanted a design scheme that contributes meaningfully to Singapore’s cityscape and enhances its surroundings,” said Ronald Tay, CEO of CapitaLand Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

“These include incorporating abundant greenery at different elevations and adding a landscaped path linking One Pearl Bank to the adjacent Pearl’s Hill City Park – a beautiful but hitherto largely underutilised public park. Residents can look forward to the rejuvenation of the City Park, which will be transformed into a playground and social space for the community and linked to Fort Canning Park through the scenic Singapore River, as part of the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s Draft Master Plan 2019.”
